“Temple mornings, a proper vegetarian spread, and Sigiriya before the heat. They knew the SAARC tickets without us asking.”

Day 1
No highway heroics on day one. Negombo lagoon sunset, sleep to your own clock.
Day 2
Ruwanwelisaya, Sri Maha Bodhi, the moonstone. We use the car inside the site so you are not walking the whole ancient city in heat.
Day 3
The stairs where Buddhism took root on the island. Afternoon by a Habarana tank.
Day 4
Lion Rock early. Cave temples when the coaches thin out.
Day 5
Bicycles in Polonnaruwa. Then Minneriya or Kaudulla depending on where the elephants are (Jul–Oct is The Gathering; other months we follow the herds).
Photo notes
Day 6
Temple of the Tooth. Optional dance show after dinner.
Day 7
Royal Botanical Gardens, then the climb to 1,800m. Cool night.
Day 8
Gate at 6:00. Cloud often kills the view after 9:00. Tea factory on the way back.
Day 9
Reserved seats when they exist. We take the bags by road.
Day 10
Early viewpoints, a slow lunch, nothing scheduled after 3pm.
Day 11
Check in, then the first jeep. Leopard country — we brief the tracker on photo pace, not a tick-list.
Photo notes
Day 12
The better leopard window is the first ninety minutes. Then south to the beach.
Photo notes
Day 13
Optional whales at 6:30am. Fort walls in the late afternoon when the cruise groups have gone.
Day 14
Swim, sleep, or a lagoon boat. The itinerary stops asking things of you.
Day 15
Drop three hours before the flight. The loop closes.

“Knuckles wrecked our legs in the best way. World’s End clear at 6:40am. This is the one for people who actually want to walk.”
